“Carefully attentive to the play of forms, I draw from immediate pleasures underlying everyday visual experience. Rhythms of line, rhymes of color and spatial relationships, unexpected vitality in “inanimate” objects, all make each work fresh, dynamic, and emotionally resonant. Experiences during my various travels find their way to my sketchbook, from whence they’re turned into paintings.”
Jayshree’s versatile personality reflects in her work through many mediums. Her paintings liberate color and lines from being purely descriptive to becoming free and expressive – suggesting emotion rather than a simple documentation of what the eye sees. Jayshree’s imaginative creative process creates abstraction with energy, color, and feeling.
For Jayshree, “It is simplification; instead of drawing an outline and then filling it in with color, with one modifying the other, I draw directly in color. It is not a starting point, but a culmination.”
Jayshree started painting over 35 years ago. She earned a B.A. in Fine Arts from the prestigious Sir J. J. School of Arts of the University of Bombay, India in 1980.
Numerous exhibitions of her work were held in India. Additionally, her work was displayed at exhibitions by leading art associations in other countries. Jayshree’s creativity and original work has earned her a number of prestigious awards through her art career.
Concurrent with her pursuit of a degree in Fine Arts, Jayshree completed a B.A. in Economics from University of Bombay in 1979. At this point, her interest in business trumped her love of painting, and she came to the U.S. for graduate studies, earning an M.S. in Advertising from Northwestern University, Evanston, IL.
Jayshree’s education led to a successful career in Advertising, with such global companies as Ogilvy & Mather, DDB Needham Worldwide, and Wieden & Kennedy.
While she continued to paint on the side as an avocation, her main focus was on her career. She even started her own full service Advertising & Public Relations firm in Portland, Oregon.
In 1995, after 15 years in the industry she took a break to raise a son and do multiple family moves (including 3 years in the UK). In 2005 she entered the business sphere again as Co-Founder and Chief Marketing Officer of a technology startup, Transpond Global Solutions. Subsequently she started another Integrated Marketing Communications company in Austin, Texas – The Agency+.
After 4 years of running The Agency+, Jayshree decided that the call of her first love – painting – was too hard to ignore, and that it was finally time to devote her attention on a full-time basis to this… no longer an avocation but now a vocation.
Jayshree consistently participates in art exhibitions. Some of the galleries that have exhibited her work since 2015 are: Austin Fine Art Gallery, ArtSpace, the City of Round Rock Art Gallery, 120Art, The Contemporary Online Art Gallery, Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery, Bass Concert Hall, Carver Library, Riverbend Inspirational Art Gallery. http://www.jayshreevakil.com/exhibitions

Jayshree transposed her award-winning paintings on to scarves to fashion wearable art of the most creative kind. “By making it available through affordable fashion couture, I can put my expressive semi-abstract artwork in the hands of many.” She has also projected her art on accented pillows to introduce modern, bright accents for the home. “These pillows are creative and rather than just have patterns and colors they can represent a vibrant side of your personality. ” Each pillow cover makes an elegant addition to any room. http://www.jayshreevakil.com/shop/
